Business CCTV is asked to do more than a domestic camera. It has to cope with large or awkward spaces, varied lighting, weather, long operating hours and, often, several buildings at once — while producing footage that is actually usable when somebody needs to review it.

A well-planned system gives you a clear record of what happened and where, which supports everything from investigating an incident to settling a dispute about a delivery. A poorly planned one produces hours of unusable footage of the wrong areas, which is why we start with what you need to see rather than with a camera count.

Placement is where the value of a system is decided. We walk the site and look at where people and vehicles enter and leave, where stock, equipment or cash is handled, which areas are isolated or poorly lit, and where previous incidents have occurred.

Each position is then matched to the right type of camera and field of view. A wide view of a car park and a close view of a doorway are different jobs, and a camera pointed at a bright window will disappoint whatever its specification. Lighting, mounting height, cable routes and weather exposure are all worked through before anything is fixed to a wall.

Footage is recorded on site to a recorder sized for the number of cameras and the retention period you want to keep. How long you hold recordings is a business decision, and we help you weigh up how far back you would realistically need to look against the storage that requires.

Remote access lets authorised people view live and recorded footage from a phone, tablet or computer, so you can check a site out of hours or from another location. Access is controlled by user account, so you decide who can view footage and who can export it.

Security is often thought of purely in terms of theft, but the benefits usually run wider. Cameras covering entrances and car parks help staff feel safer arriving early or leaving late, and visibility of loading bays and yards helps resolve questions about deliveries and vehicle movements.

There is also an operational benefit. Being able to check whether a delivery arrived, when a contractor was on site or what happened around an accident saves considerable time and disagreement. Because the recordings can include images of people, we will talk through the responsibilities that come with operating a system so you can put suitable policies in place.

Installation is planned around your working day so disruption is kept to a minimum, including out-of-hours work where that suits the site better. Cabling is routed neatly, cameras are positioned and focused properly, and we test the actual view from each one rather than assuming it matches the plan.

Once live, we hand over training on viewing, searching and exporting footage, and we continue to support the system. Cameras get knocked, lenses need cleaning, layouts change and equipment eventually needs attention — so having the same team available afterwards matters more than the day of installation.

Modern cameras are network devices, and a CCTV system is only as dependable as the infrastructure carrying it. Cameras need cabling and power, recorders need somewhere sensible to live, and remote viewing depends on the connection serving the site.
